310High temperature oxidation resistance
Stainless steel is resistant to oxidation by partial oxidation of chromium, during which a very stable oxide (Cr2O3 oxide) can be formed.As long as the chromium content of the metal is sufficient, a continuous layer of chromium oxide green can be formed on the metal surface, to prevent the formation of other oxides, and to protect the metal.The oxidation resistance of austenitic stainless steel can be estimated by chromium content.High temperature resistant alloys contain at least 20% chromium (100% weight).Substitution of nickel for iron also usually provides properties at high temperatures.309/309s, 310/310s are high alloy materials, so they have good oxidation resistance.
310Heat treatment/annealing
The main reason for annealing these alloys is to produce a recrystallized microstructure that achieves uniform grain size and breaks down harmful chromium carbide deposits.
